COURSE OVERVIEW

The course aims to provide students engaged in Air Safety Management with an overall awareness of the principles and knowledge of practices within Air Safety Management, as well as an appreciation of the tools and techniques required in the development of an Air Safety regime. The course also suits practitioners wanting a better understanding of the application of the theory, to refresh their thinking and maintain their knowledge in relation to current practices.

COURSE CONTENT

The course includes:

  • Hazard identification techniques
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk management techniques
  • Underlying risk management principles e.g. As Low as is Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)
  • Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA)
  • Construction of a safety argument for presenting in a safety case report
  • Role of Human Factors in system safety, and software safety, amongst others

PREREQUISITES

There are no formal entry requirements to undertake this course as a professional short course.
